Please join us for an exciting virtual mini-workshop! You can choose either November 11 or November 19!
Program objectives:
- Identify at least three common barriers nurses face during the bedside-to-blackboard transition and propose one actionable solution for each.
- Compare at least three key differences in priorities, skill sets, and expectations between bedside nursing and academic nurse educator roles.
- List at least four core competencies necessary for a successful transition to academia.
- Integrate the “Educator by Nature,” critical thinker, communicator, collaborator, and lifelong learner concepts into mentorship plans for new faculty.
Speakers
Assistant Provost Academic Affairs, and College of Health Sciences
New England Institute of Technology
Over 15 years in nursing education, served as Director and Department Chair of Nursing, held leadership roles throughout RI. Now serves as Assistant Provost of Academic Affairs and Health Sciences at the New England Institute of Technology. She also works as an advanced practice provider for Brown Physicians in Providence, RI. Responsibilities to support faculty and students, deliver strong health science curriculum and health science programs meeting industry needs. Interests Nursing Education, leadership, clinical practice developing sustainable support systems for nurses from the bedside into education roles.
